WWW: The make-up my cousin did for me in the video looked really proffesional and had a very realistic look to it which was really positive. The music choice I chose was very fitting as it was an instrumental that just flowed well and wasn't distracting for the viewers. The position of my camera was also well placed and fixed allowing the audience to view the full thing well.
EBI: At the end of the video I should've included a freeze frame at the end or a picture of the finished thing as I wasn't able to put it in. I also should've used maybe my phone light as the video appeared very dark so you couldn't see all the details that were added onto my face clearly. I also used a medium close up instead of just a close up.

4)
By using the star persona mood board I used many horror related pictures like zombies, vampires, death, cemeteries etc so that it would be extremely clear as to what I would be focusing my make up on and it also gave me ideas on what I wanted to do in the end

5)
To improve my work for future videos I could use better lighting, editing techniques and brush up on my camera shot knowledge so that by the next time I will have met perfection or at least something close to it.

6)
I have learned that it's not just about turning the camera on to start recording and that instead you have to make sure you have all the correct things in place so that it will look a lot more professional and so that there will be fewer mistakes. Things like lighting and camera shots and freeze frames are also very integral and shouldn't be ignored.

Film noir research

  • The film noir look is created by using low-key lighting and emphasising shadows and rough
  • lighting. This type of lighting emphasised the time period of crime as it was very dark and gritty
  • The definition of noir is 'a genre of crime film or fiction characterised by cynicism, fatalism and moral ambiguity'.
  •   The film noir genre refers to mystery and crime films produced from early 1940's-late 1950's
  • Femme fatales played a large role in this genre of film
  • Other character types were Cynical detectives, Antagonists and the Anti hero
  • Film noir first started appearing in the early 1940's and began blowing up massively as it was a brand new unique genre of film
  • Film noir is a French term which means "black film"
  • Film noir characteristics include
-Urban environments
-Rain soaked streets
-Seedy taverns, diners and run-down buildings
-Claustrophobic interiors
-Flickering street lamps
-Neon Signs
-Dark scenes with many dark shadows
-Black and white
-Criminal underworld

This clip perfectly fits the film noir genre because of many reasons. Firstly we are introduced to the femme fatale of the film as she meets all the criteria, blonde hair, seductive look, charming and especially dangerous which is most evident in this scene as the man is being being continuously beaten by her with a malicious look on her face as she does it. We are also shown the Anti-hero in this scene which is obviously the man in the chair getting beaten but no retaliating. Upon first glance he doesn't look like your average heroic man but at the end of the clip we see him calmly get up and release himself from the ropes meaning he sat down and let himself get beaten

Image 1: The effect in this picture makes the woman look intimidating and as if she has some sort of plan in her head. It also makes the viewer think she is the antagonist in what she is starring in.

Image 2:  The low-key lighting used here gives off the effect that she is in a dark place, mentally and physically and cannot escape as it is engulfing her like how the darkness in this poster is surrounding her.The top lighting on her face really reveals her facial expression showing a scared, stressed, disheartened look.

Image 3: The high-key lighting around him straight away expresses how he is a powerful character and gives off an unstoppable look. It also makes him look very confident and you can see the determined look in his face

Image 4: The effect here is that the lighting makes him look extremely villainous and the way half of his face is darkened is intense and may mean he has a split personality and one of which is his evil darkened side which the lighting represents.

Image 5: The key lighting her shows her exclamatory facial expression. She looks as if she has been getting chased and is not in a corner with no escape which can be plainly see because of the places the lighting is focused.

Image 6: The effect here is that it tells the viewer that they are kissing in a risky situation and cannot risk getting spotted. We even see the male holding the blinds shut, probably so that they don't get spotted by anybody. The back lighting and low-key lighting shows secrecy in this shot

Image 7: The back lighting gives off a mysterious feel as we can only see the silhouettes of the figures walking from an extremely bright light. The shadow and silhouette can also be seen of a man laying down to the side of the picture.

Image 8: The effect here is that the lighting focused on her face makes her look petrified and pressured which tells me she may be in a thriller or maybe a horror.

Image 9: The bright light gives off the effect of happiness and content which the woman looks with herself. She also looks like she is praising something, maybe a God which could be why the light is extremely bright from above. Holy light.

Image 10: The lighting gives off a horrifying tone and makes the antagonist look even more threatening than he usually would. The placement of him being at the top of the stairs and the light shining behind him makes him look even more deathly and almost confident as if he knows he'll always succeed.

Image 11: The lighting here gives off a joyful effect between the couple as they are obviously deeply in love and clearly ecstatic with being together.

For my project I got my cousin to do a face zombie make over as she is talented in her art skills. The makeup took just over an hour to do as the detail was very accurate and she didn't want to make any mistakes. She also used fake blood to add more of a zombie like effect which was very effective in the end as it gave off a really terrifying look which is what I was aiming for. She also used fake scars to make it look as if my skin had been cut open and been rotting which further gives off an undead look. There's a picture down below of the finished make over.
